The first PEB/QBio Community Retreat was held on December 6, 2024, organized by Dr. Emma Carley and Prof. Chris Lynn.
Talk Session 1, moderated by Arlind Kacirani, included talks from Independent Physics Postdoc Matt Leighton, and PEB PhD students Zachary Sun, Naomi Brandt, and Shoham Benmelech. Their talks covered modeling the movement of kinesin, cytoskeletal dynamics, modeling protein-protein interfaces, and the impact of hormones on the immune system.
Our poster session included presentations from QBio Postdocs Diana Valverde Mendez and Chris Nam and PEB PhD students Jose Betancourt, Allison Cairns, Devon Finlay, Gautham Gopinath, Sylvi Stoller, William Wang, XJ Xu, and Samuel Yu, and undergraduate Kaiyue Shi.
Talk Session 2, moderated by Zachary Sun, included talks from QBio Postdocs Jyot Antani, J.S. Benny Tai, and PEB PhD students Zhang Wen, Allison Culbert, and David Carcamo. Their talks covered bacterial resistance, pattern formation in microbial communities, collective cell migration in the gut, structural color, and modeling neuronal populations.
Some of the PEB PhD students who completed their PEB certificates received their certificates during the retreat.
