PEB students welcome Stony Brook University Simons STEM Scholars

On October 3, 2024, the Yale Office of Graduate Student Development and Diversity hosted a visit from 16 Stony Brook University Simons STEM Scholars. The goal of the visit was to tell the students about what it’s like to pursue a PhD at Yale. As many of the students were interested in working on PEB-related topics, several PEB PhD students volunteered to tell the Scholars about their experience as a graduate student at Yale, describe their dissertation research, and give lab tours.

Arlind Kacirani and Latavia Thompson discussed their computational biology research with a group of students interested in physical and computational sciences. Scholars interested in experimental biology research were treated to a tour of the Emonet Lab (led by Lam Vo and Gustavo Madeira Santana), the Sweeney Lab (led by Sara Siwiecki and Charles Lomba), and the Davis Lab (led by Raibat Sarker). Janani Baskaran gave a tour of the Miller-Jensen lab to Scholars interested in biomedical engineering.

Thanks to these awesome PEB students for volunteering thier time to share their experiences with the Simons STEM scholars!
